Okay - so I'm gushing about another magazine cover at 3PM. Forgive me, it's a Friday, the end of a really long and busy workweek, and we're at the cusp of a long weekend.
All these amazing covers are seriously making me wish more international titles are circulated here in Manila! Well fine we do have some titles, but they're expensive. Haha.
True to its cover feature, this photo by the fantastic Meisel - Sasha Pivovarova and Ash Stymest as gorgeous hobos - made me tilt my head to the side befuddled; until halfway through the thought I realized how brilliant it is.
On a serious note (I may be overreading, but whuttheheck), is a commentary, what with all the financial issues the whole world is facing. Luxury is overrated in these trying times, they say, and I think it's such a fantastic move for Vogue Italia to do this. Think about the glitz and glamor of magazine covers, with all its opulence and whathaveyou - and then this cover. (Although boho chic's sorta been around for a while now, not that I'm a fashion expert. Hmm.)
In any case, this is ironic genius.
Even the color scheme punches a hole right through the familiar universe of fashion magazines as I know it. Maybe I'm just really used to cover art here in Manila, with all the bright colors and fonts we've had the pleasure of seeing (Kris Aquino's Preview cover early this year with the neon yellow-green font comes to mind, haha) but this palette - earthy, muddy and dirty (pun intended) is just, for a lack of any better adjective, brilliant.
Brilliantly dirty. Delicious oxymorons.

OMG I like it! I don't like the typeface at the bottom, but everything else is awesome. Thanks for posting this.
And yeah, hi. Haha. Been following this in my RSS reader, pero old username (busridetheories) pa rin naka-register dun kaya no updates. Changed it na.
I love how CLEAN it is, unlike our covers here that are full of random blurbs. And the makeup is divine. ♥
@Vip: Typography is my weakness :( Isn't this their standard cover font? I am just a bit wary with how the text is a bit too similar to its background, but I still think it's alright haha. I missed your blog!
@Nikki: I KNOW! In fairness to the reformated UNO Magazine, they're doing this whole minimalist thing right now. Check it out. The text is just barely readable, just spot-laminated text.
