On our way up to our office after buying lunch, my teammate and I see the blinking light of the elevator from afar.
"Up! Up! Up!" he hollers, quickly hastening our steps while I was saying "Hold please!"
A few moments inside and a girl enters the lift and then proceeds to close.
"Filipino culture is funny, no?" I tell my teammate. "We always say 'up-up-up' when an elevator is about to close instead of 'hold please.' It's kinda impolite, don't you think?"
The elevator stops at the third floor, our stop. The girl beside us, as the door opens, looks at me and says in a snob, know-it-all tone: "It's because of your impulse." and then walks out of the elevator with a swagger as if she knew the meaning of life.
What a fucking bitch. Was I talking to her? It wasn't even a snide remark for her; she didn't say up-up-up anyway. Did she have the right to eavesdrop, much more butt in? If she was offended by what I said about elevator courtesy, then it was totally ironic because she was very impolite about it. Doesn't it say she's even more impolite in the end?
To add to that, yes, I know that saying up-up-up is an impulse. Common sense. But really, would you rather be a slave to your impulse, habit and culture instead of being polite and being in total control and awareness of yourself?
Funny, her butting in on a conversation she wasn't included in, as I said, was really very impulsive of her, and was very impolite. Her bitchy tone and know-it-all-ness got to me, though. Sadly, I don't think her bitchy remark made entire sense to her.
Ugh. Whuttabitch. People can be so strange at times, but in the long run, their inanity can be very very amusing. I hope no one ever holds the elevator open for her everytime she succumbs to her impulse.
